TomTom expands African map coverage

TomTom has announced map enhancements around the globe, delivering new coverage and features for automotive, government, enterprise and consumer customers. Waytag Selects TomTom to Enable Revolutionary New Location-Based Services Platform

Business Connexion forms strategic partnership with digital mapping company, MapIT

MapIT, a digital mapping company, has signed a licensed partnership agreement with a leading Black Empowerment integrated-solutions provider, Business Connexion (BCX). The agreement will give BCX access to MapIT’s enriched mapping data. The new partnership follows the decision by BCX to sell their in-house map building facility to focus on their core business in the IT and communications fields. BCX provide mission-critical information and communication technology systems and manage products, services and solutions (that include geo-spatial services), to JSE listed clients, as well as key public sector and parastatal organisations. Premier digital mapping company MapIT has entered into a broad long term agreement to supply digital mapping data to media giant group, Avusa. The Times Explorer project website (http://explorer.timeslive.co.za/) is one of the first to implement the web mapping technology supplied by MapIT to build an interactive web mapping page. The live, 10-week interactive Explorer Project, tracks various popular tourist routes – South Africa‟s „greatest journeys‟ – along the west coast, the western and northern Cape, and Kwazulu-Natal and Eastern Cape. Online map available for south africa’s most beautiful

The route of South Africa‟s most beautiful ultra-marathon, The Old Mutual Two Oceans race that meanders through suburban Cape Town past Table Mountain and over Chapman‟s Peak, is once again available in an interactive online format from the official Two Oceans website. MapIT provides new and improved route information for the Momentum

On the 15th of November, the Waterfall Country Estate and The City of Joburg will be hosting the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge and to facilitate cyclists prior to the race and on the day, MapIT has supplied a new route profile and upto-date aerial photographs to enable them to familiarize themselves with the route. “While MapIT is still supplying an interactive online map we were asked to supply new map content.
